Any posts requesting or listing personal info on Colin..
address, phone etc.. will be deleted
1)**AVOID "DOUBLE POSTING"!** Use the "search" feature at the top of the page to see if a topic has been discussed before. Then just jump in on an existing discussion instead of starting a new thread.
If we have multiple threads concerning "Colin and Kim" or "Colin's Ass"..It will be hard to find anything else important.
2)~THINK TWICE BEFORE STARTING A NEW TOPIC
Please don't post.."just to post".. we don't want to fill up the board
with superfluous stuff like "Is Colin Hot" or "Does Colin take his coffee with cream".. ok that last one is an exxageration ..but you get my drift.
Please think about whether there is a purpose for your post..other than just to "chat"... There's a chat thread for that..if you have a random thought on Colin...that isn't worth starting a new thread about.. talk about it there.
3)NO SPECULATION ON COLIN's PERSONAL LIFE
We do not allow any speculation concerning Colin's personal life.. especially his relationships ..with his family, his significant others, his son. If there is a news story that states a FACT about a relationship or some aspect of his personal life.. then it is fine to discuss. However, if you see a photo or read a story that does not give facts, but makes you speculate as to the nature of a relationship.. keep it to yourself!
What seems like "innocent sharing of opinions" has too often turned into ugly comments being made about both Colin and other people in his life. Therefore, we just don't allow it.
Make sure there are concrete Facts to back up any comments you make on Colin's private life.
4)USER LEVEL ADVANCEMENT -- Sure, we're happy that you've advanced to the next user level, but please, don't form a new post about it. There are over 200 users here, and that's just too many user level changes for us to take. If you are currently posting
within an already-made post, feel free to express your joy IN A CURRENT POST, like when you reply to some topic.
*NEW* Please notice that some topics in the OFF TOPIC forum no longer
count towards level advancement.
5) POSTING PICTURES -- There is a Forum that's SOLE PURPOSE is to harbour Colin Pics. It's the COLIN PHOTOs board. Please, to conserve space, post pics of Colin in that forum. If the photo comes from a magazine or newspaper, please say which one, no matter how old.
If there is a pic that is pertinent to a post in the General Discussion or
other forum..you can post it ..but PLEEEZE..only if it's pertinent to the discussion.
DO NOT post photos just for the "fun"of it!
DO NOT post paparrazzi shots of James, or links to them!
You can link to photos at Colin Farrell::Fansite(ONLY for an
occasional post..NOT FOR SIGNATURES), but keep in mind that
most of us have seen the pics there..so it's not always necessary, if the
pic doesn't have something to do with your post.
For instance..it doesn't make sense to post a pic from this site
with message:
"Hey look what I found" or
"Have you seen this?"
We have seen it already.
You can always post a link to the page that the pic is on.
When posting a pic from another site..keep two things in mind:
1) You are using that site's bandwidth (which the web master probably
pays for) so be particular in what your linking to.
2) Give that site credit if possible.
If you are posting a pic in any forum..please don't post ones that are
too large! It uses up a lot of bandwidth and isn't "dial up" friendly.
If the image is large..post it as a "link" instead. Moderators may change
large images to links.
6) TOPIC TITLES -- Please, for the love of leprechans, make sure the title of a new topic describes the post.
Example, I'm going to post about how I love Colin in the wirerim glasses he wore in "Minority Report" -- the topic
title should look somthing like this:
"Colin is sooo cute in glasses in MR!" or
"Colin in Glasses" or
"Isn't Colin hot in Wire Rims?"
Something like that. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't write topic titles that say:
"read this!" or
"hey!" or
"ouch!" or
"la la la" or
"omg" or
"bubbles!" or
"lol!" ......
Write FULL titles that DESCRIBE the MAIN IDEA or TOPIC SENTENCE of the post, like:
"read this! Colin confirms new movie role!" or
"hey! i'm new here..." or
"ouch! this pic of Britney hurts my eyes!" or
"omg Colin is naked in this pic!!!!" or
C'MON people...... I wanna see LONG TOPIC TITLES!!!!!
I know yer articulate! You can do it!!!!
7) BOREDOM -- If you're bored, go watch a Colin movie or something, or go to the OFF TOPIC or Social boards. There are many many many things to talk about on the OT and CHAT Boards. (Ideal for all you workin' folk out there with a computer handy!)
There's also the chat room in the left hand column of the page..if you can catch someone in there!
8) COLIN "NEWS" SECTION and "Can't stop talking about Colin.."-- Let's try to keep this section just "News" and facts. If you want to discuss something more obscure..go to "Can't stop talkin 'bout Colin". You're free to discuss anything pertaining to Colin in there..but let's try to avoid truly pointless topics like "Is Colin Hot?" Those types of topics will be deleted.
If you're not sure what or where to post something..feel free to PM me or the mods..we're happy to help!
9)NEED HELP? GOT QUESTIONS -- See Question/Help Board
Post ANY questions you have about anything other than Colin and they will be answered by whoever has the answer. This doesn't apply to personal questions, but simply computer/internet/board inqueries.
Again..feel free to PM Mary or the mods!!
10) NEWS/INTERVIEWS/ARTICLES ETC -- When you find an article about Colin, and post it, PLEASE for our sake at Colin Farrell::Fansite, post what magazine/newspaper/website etc you found it on - also a date. Dates are always good!!! And remember, when you post an article and we use it, your Board username goes up with it (usually - sometimes we may forget to include a thank you, but we still love you dearly!)
11). THOU SHALT NOT LIE -- Don't mislead people by making a post title like:
"OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!" or
"UPDATE!!!! NEWS!!!!!!!"
when all the topic is about is:
"did u know that Colin is hot?" or
"what does Colin's hair look like in Alexander?"
And much more importantly, do not - and I repeat - do NOT post news or rumors that you KNOW are false. Not only will people laugh at you, but a good lot of us won't pay you any heed at all.
12) PERSONAL SIGNATURES -- No images over 500 pixels in width and 250 pixels in height may be used in signatures because of loading time.
File size limit: 85KB....
Keep in mind that JPG/JPEG have smaller file sizes than GIF or BMP.
If you want special effects in your signature please make sure it does not alter the appearance of the Board!!! Please respect other poster's sanity and make sure your signature code is Board-friendly.

13) UNWASHED MISCREANTS, JUVENILE DELINQUENTS--
There have always been degrees of annoyances on any message boards..including this one occasionally.
Warnings are usually given before anything else is done, but for more severe "crimes against humanity" a post may very well be closed or deleted without any notice.
Types of "crimes" punishable are:
-Personal attacks a.k.a. Flaming, including on other members, Colin or other actors/actresses (post is deleted and poster most likely banned possibly "warned")
-Being a butthead and not realizing it (poster is notified and if no change/appology is made posts will be deleted and "warning" given)
-Being a butthead and knowing it (poster is notified and "warning" given.. and if no change is made poster will be banned)
-Posting with a huge signature over regulation size or one that causes other difficulties (poster is notified and if no change is made signature will be deleted and "warning given")
-Publically chastising decisions made by mods and/or admins. These people do this work voluntarily. They do not deserve to take any junk from any member for any reason. If you have an opinion on something decided by the admin team..please PM maryp or a mod directly. Do not post it publically. One such post will result in a "warning"..continously doing this..may result in being banned.
**NEW** With the new forum we have the option of setting up
a warning system. You will see only your own warning level under your name.
Mods and Admins can see everyones levels. If you break any rule the mods and admins have the right to raise your warning level. This would be for other than really serious infractions. If you get so many warnings that your level reaches 100%..you will be banned.
In the list above I have given examples of times that "warnings" may be given.
These are not the only causes for warnings. They at the discretion of mods and admins.
Please Keep in Mind.. We do not BAN for no good reason!
Regardless of what is sometimes said about this board..we have NEVER banned
anyone without good reason..and without much discussion amongst admins and mods. Unless the cause was a really inflammatory post and or/disgusting language ... then you can be assured that someone was warned multiple times
before being banned. If someone tells you that "they have no idea why they were banned" ..they are not telling the truth. Banning is a last resort measure.
We want everyone to just work within the rules and guidelines and this will
be a "happy place".
14) No posting of pornographic material OR links to pornographic material. Posts will be deleted immediately.
This includes all "naked" pics..frontal or not.. and all "sex scenes"
if they show below the waist.
15) No Political Discussions ~ there are other boards where political discussions are appropriate.. but I feel that they can only cause problems on a board like this.. so don't start one..it will be deleted.
16) No using computer slang..shortened words.. or writing in
pArT cApS .. this makes posts very very hard to read. I think I've had this in posting guidelines before..but thought it was time to make it an actual "rule".
If you find it impossible to post in normal english.. don't post. (I am not talking about people for whom Engish is not their first language..we will always be patient with minor grammar and spelling errors.. I am talking about people who puposely post in an improper way ) [/b]
17)This is not really a new rule..but seems to have been left off the the "official list". Please do not copy entire posts and or threads from other Forums. While we realize that the majority of posts/threads that might be quoted.. are harmless.. there are some forums that are trouble. We ask that if there is something that you find interesting.. share..but with no links or quotes.
