Location: Filmed in Belgium in February 2007
The film, McDonagh's feature debut, tells the story of two hitmen (Farrell and Gleeson) who are sent by their boss (Ralph Fiennes) on a break to Bruges, Belgium after a job in London.
Outside of their normal environments, the duo get mixed up in problems involving the locals, tourists and a film shoot and find their perspectives on life and death shifting.

-After winning his Oscar for Six Shooter, McDonagh entered into an agreement with Focus Features to direct a full length feature from his screenplay "In Bruges," about two hit men who hide out in Bruges after accidentally killing a child. As of July 2006, Colin Farrell was reportedly cast in the feature.
-Early next year, he (Colin) will team up with the Oscar-winning London-Irish playwright Martin McDonagh on his directorial debut, In Bruges.
