Plot:

 

Adapted from the John Fante's Depression Era novel about a fiery Mexican beauty, Camilla (Hayek), who hopes to rise above her station by marrying a wealthy American. That is complicated by meeting Arturo Bandini (Farrell), a first-generation Italian hoping to land a writing career and a blue-eyed blonde on his arm.

Chris Young takes over 'Ask the Dust'

Christopher Young has been hired to compose the music for Ask the Dust, the Robert Towne-directed adaptation of John Fante's novel. Colin Farrell and Salma Hayek stars in the romantic drama about a Mexican woman who wants to marry an American but falls for the charm of an Italian writer. At an earlier stage, James Horner was attached to the film but he is no longer involved in the project.

Besides Ask the Dust, Young is also composing the original score for thriller The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson, whose previous film credits include screenplays for Urban Legends: Final Cut and Hellraiser: Inferno. Laura Linney, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Tom Wilkinson and Campbell Scott stars in the film which will open on 9 September.
