We are now happy to post the first hand experiences of Luna and friends as they got to meet Colin at the Seville Film Festival. As you will read, Colin was his normal gracious and charming self. He always goes out of his way to greet fans at events like this, even when he is running late! Much thanks to Luna for sharing her experience with us. Here is her story:
After a week of reading the rumours that Colin was to attend Seville Festival on Friday 6?? There was very little information anywhere right up to the day before. On Friday, Me along with two friends went to the “Casino de exposicion” where the festival is being held, around 5 p.m. No one was there because it was very early, the gala didn’t start until 9pm but we wanted to get a good place. During the long wait, we were talking about Colin and his movies, his life, how gorgeous he is, we didn’t get bored even for a second. Around 7, cars started to appear but it couldn’t be Colin, it was still too early, but a car passed by our side and we saw a guy with a hat that looked liked Colin’s beloved hat, we started going crazy, “it’s him it’s Colin!” but the car went away. Today I discovered that it was Colin because he was there early for the “Triage” press conference.
We were convince it was Colin so I decided to take out my big Irish flag bought months earlier in my beloved Dublin, I think it was a great idea to take it with me because a local TV Channel made interviewed us, journalists took pictures of us and all because of the flag. By the way, there were many ignorant journalists there, I can prove it, one of them approached us and said: “We all were wondering where that flag is from. Could you tell us?” my friends and I gasped a bit and said, “Ireland” (with pride) and he said “ahh we thought it was from France, so are you Erasmus students from Ireland?” we replied “No we’re from here, this flag is because of Colin Farrell” and the guy gave us a look as he didn’t know what an Irish flag has to do with Colin Farrell !
At 8:30 things started to move, people started to come and big actors too, first Sir Christopher Lee. How adorable he is. He waved at us from the car and then again when he got off, he didn’t come closer to us because the poor man is older and he was walking with a cane and with difficulty. We were a bit far behind the fence and at this point there were like 30 people, not so many for a Cinema Festival but like I said people didn’t know anything for the lack of information.
Then Ben Kingsley came and he didn’t approach us either because he was late for the gala, but he told us pointing at his watch and waving. We forgave him. hehe.
Then the “big” Seville-born star Paz Vega came, she almost didn’t look at the public, she didn’t wave much and of course she didn’t come to sign anything or take a picture with us, we Seville-born too like her, were very disappointed at her for that.
But anyway she wasn’t the reason we were there. THE moment came, the last car, twenty minutes late, the lovely Colin Farrell finally came. It was funny because when the car was coming everybody was in silence and when we saw him inside the car, everybody started screaming like crazy, COLIN COLIN, WE LOVE YOU, COME HERE!!!! Even us of course. So after a long flight from L.A. a morning of promotion and a tired face, he was the only one that went to greet the people, so kind of him. He started at the right, we were at the left, and as my turn was coming, I couldn’t stop myself from shaking, suddenly he was in front of me, I gave him my Irish flag and he said with a big smile “ the Irish flag” we could see that home is always in his heart. He wrote “sláinte, Colin” that means, “cheers” in Irish, I knew that because that is one of the few words I know in Irish, I think the fact that he wrote it in Irish is more meaningful coming from him, the Irish lad. Then I asked him to take a picture with me, looked at me directly in the eyes and said “of course”, I almost felt to the floor, then I hugged him to take the picture and I hadn’t take my arm off him and he said to me “cheers darling” with that amazing voice of his.
Then he signed a bit more, there weren’t that many people, but he pleased us all. He went to the small red carpet at the door and met with Mr. Lee and Ms. Vega at the photocall, a couple of pictures and interviews, (I think because we couldn’t see anything from where we were) and he went inside the theatre.
People ask me if it was worth it to wait for hours standing behind the fences for only a couple of minutes with him, of course it was! This was once in a life time opportunity, it was Colin Farrell, a great actor and one of my favorites, he was so nice, so elegant, so charming, he didn’t disappoint anybody. My friends and I were thrilled as as were the other people there. We talked with many of them and they were all exited and happy and calling their friends to tell them how amazing Colin Farrell was.
