Colin and the rest of the “Fright Night” cast have been filming in New Mexico for about a week now. The New Mexico Business Weekly has an article about the production.

Tom Swisstack, mayor of Rio Rancho, said the film is one of the largest productions to take place in the city, which is immediately northwest of Albuquerque. Shooting will be at various locations around Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, as well as the Albuquerque Studios. Swisstack and Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry touted the economic benefits the production will bring, including more business for hotels and restaurants, and work for New Mexico professionals.

The Playlist has gleaned some new info concerning “Fright Night” from a Variety article on women in Hollywood. “Fright Night’s” writer, Marti Noxon, was interviewed for the article and gave us the following:

He’s (Colin’s character, Jerry Dandridge) a much more ‘Jaws’-like vampire in the Amblin tradition,” Noxon told Variety. The remake will also reportedly be set in Las Vegas with production set to begin as soon as later this summer. Still no word, however, on whether rumors of the film going meta, with the protagonist reaching out to an actor from the original film for help with his vampire problems, are true.

The Hollywood Reporter reporting that Colin Farrell is going to play the vampire neighbor in Dreamwork’s remake of 1985′s horror-comedy “Fright Night”.

In the story Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek”)stars as a teenager who can’t get anyone to believe that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Toni Collette will play the teen’s mother.

Colin’s role as the vampire, “Jerry”, who on the surface appears to be a cool guy but is really preying on the neighborhood. Collete’s character doesn’t like the new neighbor at first, but once she comes under his spell she won’t believe her son’s suspicions that Jerry is a vampire.

The film will be released by Disney, with Craig Gillespie directing
