I announced this on our forum a couple of weeks ago and was going to hold off a little on making the final announcement, but people are probably wondering why I haven't been updating lately.
After a lot of thought I realized that after 11+ years, it is time to close this site. It was a hard decision but one that was not made lightly.
There are multiple reasons for making the decision to close. First and foremost is the cost. As some of you know, this site started out on free and then low cost servers, but we had so much traffic and such large databases, we were no longer allowed on those servers so we moved to a dedicated server which is much more expensive. We've been paying out of pocket for the server, the domain name, photo services etc. For many years we had a lot of contributions that kept us going, but we no longer have donations coming in on any kind of a regular basis. Besides that problem, we used to get some income from Amazon ads, but they no longer allow Amazon affiliates in my state, so that income went away. The finances were not the only reason. I know that a lot of people do not realize how much time it takes to run a big site like this.. for an actor as busy as Colin is. I spend hours of each day searching for news and photos. Then I have to post and upload photos. And now in the age of social media, I must also maintain a Facebook page and a twitter account. It all adds up to a lot of work for no pay.. and is actually costing me money.
I really appreciate all of the support that I have had over the years and I have made a lot of really good friends through this site, but my heart is no longer in it.
I made the last payment on the server on May 1st. That is good for 3 mos, I have started to remove sections of the site but may leave the forum up until I officially close this server account. The Facebook Page has already been closed and will be closing the Twitter page shortly.
I wish Colin Farrell, all of you Colin Fans and especially the Angelman Families who have visited here all the best in the years to come! (( hugs ))
